Just posted this to
hip_domestics, but I thought I'd share here, too:
Some of you may already know this site, but I just found it today and thought it was cool enough to share: http://www.recipegoldmine.com/. I haven't even looked at the food recipes yet because I found it through the "household recipes" section; that area gives "recipes" on how to make your own household cleaners of various types. There's a drop-down menu at the top and a recipe index on the right side that shows you the different categories of recipes.
Along the same lines, the frugal living section at about.com (http://frugalliving.about.com/) is a great site for information on how you can accomplish a lot of things for less money. I use the vinegar and baking soda pages a lot. While the focus is on frugal living, a lot of the information is good for people trying to be more eco-friendly, too, because of all the ideas for reusing/recycling things you might otherwise throw away. Watch out for the annoying pop-up bar that follows you down the page.
In other news, the doggies reconnected with their owner today! What a relief!

Anyway: after putting the boys in the backyard, washing them down, feeding them, etc. on Sunday, I called the animal shelter on Monday as soon as they were open. I gave the info about the dogs and my phone number to the guy who answered and he said he'd check around. About twenty minutes later, I got a call from him that the owner had just walked in and recognized the description of the dogs. He sent her to me, and that was that. The dogs seemed quite happy to be going home.
